FOUR PASTICHES FOR PIANO

Traileri

Four Pastiches for Piano is a small-scale suite containing studies and sketches on the handwritings of various composers. It is also the author's first expedition into the world of composing, opus 1. The journey goes through the eras of Romanticism, Impressionism and Late Romanticism, approaching the jagged and extremely stretched edges of tonality.

Echoes can be heard of Polish song and folk dance, which in Chopin's art was elevated to a stylized and sophisticated mazurka; Ondine, the water goddess brought to life by Ravel, in her own undulating, dripping and gushing element; Alban Berg's (Sonata Op. 1) influence on romantic expression; and finally Scriabin's poetic, intimate, and ecstatic spirit.
